CHARACTER NAME:Bombardier (Cerethrak of Tesarus)
Nicknames:Bomba, Wings, Ember-optics
Age: Actual age numbers in the millions, his mental age is akin to a 50-60 year old man
Gender:Male
Faction:Decepticon (Bound to change though)
Alt Mode:A-10 Thunderbolt
G.H.O.S.T, Civilian, or Other: Fugitive Decepticon and former leader of the Iron Company
Residence: More of a wanderer really, though he has setup shop in a few places. The Black Forest and the Rocky Mountains are two places he has made shop in on earth, though tends to fly around often.
GENERAL INFO
Weapons: Rotary Cannon, Transforming melee weapon (usually takes the form of a heated Halberd but can form into a greatsword), missiles, bombs, the works. He also carries a quintet of drones that act as both helpers and combat support.
Holoform:Has one but it is a bit finicky to tinker with. Due to his size, it tends to make his holoform have some defects. It sometimes takes the form of an armored knight out of nowhere.
Body Build: Heavy and Brutish. Bombardier's armor gives him a very fearsome appearance, one that could associate him more with a monstrous automaton than a simple cybertronian. His height makes it hard for him to fit into smaller spaces but he makes do by crouching or crawling. His arms and legs are thick with heavy iron plates, built into his body and scorched with hundreds of explosions. His servos are big but not clawed like some. Instead, they are rounded and only have some sharpness at the tips, allowing him to manage explosives without accidentally cutting them. His feet are heavy and some could say earth shattering, plates of armor guarding the feet against IEDS and other hidden explosives. His body in general takes on a brutal and scary appearance, like a spawn of the deepest pit.
Distinguishing Features: For one, his height is very outside the norm. Being at his height makes him quite imposing even if one were to take off all the armor. Speaking of armor, his body is almost covered in rigid armor plating, the Cybertronian equivalent of a bomb squad suit/juggernaut armor. His body is covered in smoky swirls and scorch patches from all the times he's been blasted with explosives.
The most distinguishable feature on him is his mask, wings, and collar. The mask was built originally as a shield against flying sparks and shrapnel and Bombardier keeps the attachment on him as a safeguard and memento. It can activate on a dime in reaction with an explosion but takes a few seconds to retract back from the locks. The collar is also a sort of memento to an old line of work, allowing his neck region to be guarded mainly from shrapnel but also keep his neck covered. The old iron hue can almost still be seen from his face.
His wings are also unique in function, as they too are reinforced with the same metal armor. The massive wings give him the appearance of an Angel (or at least, the closest to one for humans to connect to. Bombardiers wings also are segmented and can harden/ come together in specific emotional states. Similar to a seeker flapping their wings except they are less about the movement and more the segmentation of the wings. If he were to get a paint job, it would be a bronze/orange hue.
Personality (Strengths)
“Patience is the companion of wisdom.”: Bombardier is a very patient bot. It's what makes him very good with bombs and what makes him take others with great resilience. He has had to learn this patience with pain and effort though, and has a hard time willingly letting it go. You can berate him and insult him for his flaws but He will take what he will and move on. Crossing the line however is another story. In the meantime though, feel free to be a chaotic bean around him.
“The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.”: For a decepticon of his profession, Bombardier is understanding of others to a fairly admirable degree. While he may be quiet and calm, His words and his listening can speak volumes. A recluse by nature he forces himself to talk with others in order not to withdraw. It keeps him going in this war and helping others gives him the feeling of accomplishment when this war long since wore its welcome. If you ever feel like you need someone to vent to in the cause, talk with Bombardier.
"It requires more courage to suffer than to die.": Bombardier is a brave soul, wanting to use his size to protect those under his charge who cannot protect themselves as easily. He knows he made decisions in the past that he would regret, but that does not mean he would go back on such things. He will own up to whatever challenge lies before him in equal terms if able, even if it may be at the cost of his own life. That courage however, is still tempered by his loyalty….perhaps one day he may find the courage to take care of himself?
Personality (Weaknesses)
Honesty is the best Policy:Like it or not, Bombardier is an honest lad. If you were to ask if he committed destructive acts, he would say yes. He doesn’t like it but he feels it's his duty to a fellow bot to tell the truth. That doesn’t mean he won't withhold anything. It just means that he won't outright lie without good cause, even if it were easier for him in the long run.
Devils run when a good man goes to war: It is very tough to get Bombardier to anger...but when you do, it has very explosive results. There is a reason why they call Bombardier the Walking Furnace. If you ever manage to get him in a rage, it becomes very apparent that he won't stop until what made him mad has faded from his mind, taken out his anger long enough to cool down, or turned that something into a scorching pulp, whether it be scrap, flesh, or something else entirely.
“Assistance at all costs”: He has a nasty habit to overwork himself for others. Whether it be going days without recharge in order to keep watch at night to even staying behind while others retreat from battle. His tendency to put others before himself has a bad habit of having debilitating effects on himself, so much so that it isn't uncommon to see Bombardier sometimes fall asleep during a briefing. He has been ordered frequently to get rest and recharge if his performance starts to wane.
Fears:
“Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret.” :Bombardier has a great fear of being consumed by rage. While it may seem strange, keep in mind his frame, weaponry and height is enough to prove his point of being feared. He doesn’t want to hurt those in his radius and thus almost always is a recluse. However, he has been brought out of his shell from his time as a decepticon. Both the celebration of his destructive power and a community gave him the shield he needed from this fear. Still though, he tries to keep civilian casualties to a minimum, requesting that he be deployed in military action more often than not.
Sending out an S.O.S!: While the bombardier likes the water, He has a small fear of deep water. The feeling of being pulled into the watery abyss brings chills up his spine. Thus if he ever were to find out there was an ocean nearby,he would stay leagues away from it. The closest he could get to an ocean or deeper body of water than his height would be to put his hands in it. He hasn’t had any personal experiences with drowning other than his head being forced into water as a newly forged being.
“It’s so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone.”: Bombardier has issues with being truly alone. While he may seem introverted and quiet, the friends he does have he holds very close to his spark. Many times, his spark was wrenched from his chest at the news of a loss of a good friend in battle. One such friend even caused the bomber to go into a rage after his demise. It is losses like these that make him fear hostage situations, moments where he is unable to protect or be there for his companions. Out of all this fear of losing those close comes a deep set fear of being alone. To be the only one left, to have no one else to see.
Likes:
I wanna rock!:Bombardier has his taste of music. Although he prefers calming orchestral music when he is working on delicate tasks, he prefers listening to Earth rock/metal. He does have a bit of a stranger liking to a very specific genre:Hardbass. Why he likes it is unknown. Fun fact: Given his deep voice, Bombardier is quite the good singer in the low tones...if you can get him to a karaoke event.
Hammer to Fall:Music is not the only art he is passionate about. He views blacksmithing/metalworking as a sacred art of sorts. Whether watching a video on a culture forging beautiful sets of armor to repairing the metal workings of a device or ship. He has proven this craft useful both as a healthy outlet for his emotions and as a useful tool to help other cybertronians. He’s also an engineer at heart, deconstructing and tinkering with both gear and ordinance as needed or desired.
Take me to the river...: He has a liking to water and to oceans (surprisingly). He feels the soothing coolness of the water calms him in a way nothing else could. If he has a chance to rest in the rain or lie down in the river, he's gonna do it...even if that river starts to boil. There also is a practical reason for this:Sometimes, when he has a hard time regulating himself emotionally, he takes the chance to sit in water to cool himself down. This has a very physical effect:from cooling his armor and his body to calming his mind.
Dislikes:
I stand so that the weak may rise: If there is anything the walking blast radius hates, it's those preying on the weak. He absolutely despises bullies and it has been something that has gotten him in trouble with the decepticon ranks in the past. He has a fondness for the smaller bots, usually guarding them like a protective parent. He doesn’t know why but seeing the smaller of his kind (or any other) rise up and succeed brings him a warmth that isn’t caused by lethal explosives. To see someone put them down when some are incapable of fighting back is something the bomber cannot stand for...which leads into the next dislike.
Honorbound, By duty crowned: Bombardier is a very firm advocate for the fair fight. Thus, any transgression or dishonor of this principal is something he despises. If he encountered a wounded bot, he would rather give them a chance to fight or recover rather than outright out them if no one else is at risk. If he encounters a bot at death's door who wants to fight but is incapable of doing so, he leaves them be. He will even abstain from weapons in favor of servo on servo combat if he felt it fair. As such, many have taken advantage of this nature to completely turn the tide on him. Doing so however comes with its own risks.
“It is better to have an enemy who honestly says they hate you.”: If there’s anything that Bombardier hates, it’s breaching trust. While this may seem a bit weird given he is siding with a group known as the Decepticons and he has been known to employ feints or tactics involving deception, by no means does he carry those same things into conversation. While little things like white lies or a test of his patience only mildly miffs him, a major breach in his trust or even a deception leading to a failure in battle (such as being sent to battle with fewer troops than promised or out right abandoned or left on the battlefield without being told for example) is enough to make his patient exterior burn up.
PERSONAL INFO
Family: None in the traditional unit sense…the decepticons have been his family really for ages. He has had close ties with Soundwave and had some good working relations with Shockwave. As for Megatron, he once looked up to him as a leader…now he remains conflicted on the matter. As for the others, most tend to vary. Love him or hate him though in this life or the next…Bombardier remains standing as a Decepticon resolute!
Mate: Formerly a neutral named Short Circuit. They were laid to rest though after a job gone wrong though…
History:The decepticon cause is known for having many colorful and radically different members amongst its ranks. Perhaps one of the most “reasonable” of the group is in fact one of its most destructive members: Bombardier. Where did Bombardier come from, who was he in his younger days, why does he wear his blast mask constantly? These are many of the questions both his enemies and his allies ask on the daily. Tonight, I shall answer those questions.
For starters, Bombardier wasn’t originally known by his fitting name. He was dubbed Cerethrak at birth, making his home in Tesarus. His creation was like any other Cybertronian: through the pulsing waves of Vector Sigma. Given life by the pulsing waves, Cerethrak of Tesarus was an odd member to say the least. Most of his career, fellow Cybertronians were confused but not necessarily intolerable of this walking giant having a plane alt. Cerethrak spent most of his livelihood in construction and demolition, gaining a very literate grasp of how to dismantle and put together explosives. He was a quiet sort, always fading into the background even at his size.
However, his true calling came during the twilight of Cybertron. Gaining a reputation as being skilled and patient, he took up the mantle of Bomb disposal and demolitionist. Taking up contracts with the government, it was in this line of work that he met a dear companion by the name of Short Circuit. Short Circuit and Cerethrak took their jobs with gusto and patience, Cerethrak at first being mildly annoyed by their antics, He came to enjoy their company, and they him. It soon became a scheduled routine: Wake up from recharge, get rations, practice disabling incendiaries and explosives (maybe even do the occasional disposal), assist the construction crew, then go to recharge. Slowly it grew and grew, Bombardier growing more and more outgoing with his partner.
Where Short Circuit went, he followed. Life was going great, even in the midst of their dangerous profession. They had even declared themselves Conjunx and were going to do a ceremony to officially declare it. However, good things always came to an end and Cerethrak lost his partner in a tragic accident. He doesn’t wish to talk of it anymore, even going so far as to refuse speaking of the matter any more. All he will say of the matter now was that he was deceived...and that deception caused this loss.
However, it was this moment that led to the next stage in his life: life as a machine of war. Cycles after the incident, The fall of the five cities began. Tesarus being one of the 5, Bombardier bore witness to the cause of the Decepticon. Their fight against the corrupt government spoke volumes within Cerethraks spark. The song and words of their leader, the loss of Short Circuit...Cerethrak made a decision that changed his life. Joining the cause with no reservation, he put both his frame and his knowledge of ordinance to good use. His alt form converted to fit explosives and his robot form given more armor plating, he embraced his role as living crowd control. He took his place in the cons with pride, serving in countless tours as both air support and direct siege smashing. His exploits even earned him a command over a group of industrious decepticons, sent to fortify or destroy whenever necessary.
Now though, Bombardier is not much different to the Autobots during the war: a renegade. Still though, despite all that has happened, perhaps now Bombardier can pay some form of penance. That is, if he manages to avoid being hauled off!
