Today, Spinoff had noticed, had a pattern to it. Not the kind of pattern they liked, unfortunately.
They had a bad dream, they had nearly been seen by GHOST agents in the woods earlier, their holoform just refused to activate for whatever reason, and to top it all off, their communication device had broken! Hooray! What a way to start off their year.
Now, normally Spinoff despised the concept of digging through trash. What were they, a raccoon? But alas, they had just arrived in Autobot City, and didn't know of any repair stores. So, here they were, scrambling through the filth of the city's inhabitants. Disgusting... But what else could they do?

This was not good at all. What if my energon levels were low? I could survive a day...more or less...before I got really desperate. I never should have followed the truck to Autobot City. I never should have lost the truck. I should never have gotten lost in AUTOBOT CITY! This was the worst. I was really scared. Somehow no one had seen me yet. All thanks to my natural black color that had helped me hide in the shadows. But... How much longer would that be?
Deep in an alley, hidden, I noticed how someone came suddenly. Oh my Primus, I was lost, I just knew it. Now that Autobot was going to call G.H.O.S.T and they'd chase me down and I'll use up what's left of my Energon. Then they would capture me and... and...
At that time I could not take off, it would make a lot of noise and alert the surroundings. So I stayed there, begging that the bot did not see me.

A scowl grew on Spinoff’s facial plating as they continued to search through the copious amounts of trash. Why didn’t anyone throw away anything useful? They ventured deeper into the alleyway, assuming that they were just not looking hard enough.
Let’s see here… Tin cans, food wrappers, articles of fabric, a bot, scraps of paper- Wait, a bot?
Spinoff narrowed their optics. Was their Energon deficiency catching up to them? They were trying their best to not be wasteful, but maybe…
They shook away their thoughts, stepping closer to the other. With their communication device broken, they couldn’t speak. So, they simply waved.

Oh Primus! Oh Primus! Oh Primus who LOVES to see my suffering. The bot was getting closer! Surely he had seen me and that's why he was getting so close! This was the end, I am already finished, I had no chance of surviving this. The bot just walked over and...
He waved at me... As if to... Greet me
This I had not expected. I am used to the fact that when others see me, they start screaming, running, trying to capture me or beating me up. But this was something new. Well, I certainly never stayed long enough to see what happened next, but this time... I really didn't want G.H.O.S.T to find me, so...
I waved back "He-He-Hello?" That had gone very loose, I was wondering if the other bot had heard "Uhmm... Can you not y-yell? I really d-don't want to be f-found..." I felt very stupid at that moment.

By habit, they start to type on their communication device- Only for it to fizzle out and send a few sparks onto the concrete floor. They had forgotten the whole reason they were here in the first place was to fix it. This would be a difficult conversation, Spinoff noted.
They looked around the alleyway. This wasn’t their first time without the device, so they knew plenty of ways to get around it. Quickly, Spinoff grabbed various items within their reach and placed them on the floor. In a minute or two, a message was left on the ground in front of Takeoff.
CAN’T TALK. DON’T WORRY.

I tried, really tried not to freak out when I saw the sparks coming from the strange device the other one had. However, I half-succeeded. I was able to avoid screaming, but I couldn't help but jump on the spot. Primus, I'd be ashamed if I wasn't used to humiliation. But I did feel nervous when the other started grabbing things and putting them on the ground. Until it was over and I saw what he did.
"Oh... Oh..." That wasn't the first time he met a bot that couldn't speak, but... it was always so sad "S-S-Sorry..."
At least I couldn't alert anyone to my presence here. I looked at the other bot again to notice the wings…the shape of its frame… "You…Are you a Decepticon?"

Spinoff’s optic ridges furrowed. Why did people always say they were sorry when they learned about their condition? It was illogical, and quite frankly, a little patronising. No, more than a little. It wasn’t like they could do anything about it. Honestly, the nerve…
They snapped out of their annoyed thoughts upon hearing the other’s question. They were a Decepticon, yes, but was that knowledge safe with this bot? He might’ve been a really weird looking Autobot, or a GHOST agent in a metal suit. Then again, this guy seemed… scared? They weren’t sure if that was the right word, but it seemed like he wouldn’t really hurt anyone over the fact. They rearranged their message.
YES. SPINOFF. YOU?

At that moment I didn't knew whether to be happy or worried to be with another Decepticon, although this one didn't seem to want to hurt me. The truth is, I had a reputation known throughout almost the entire army for two things. One, for being the most cowardly Decepticon that has ever existed in the entire history of Cybertron. And second... because my Conjux, Bright Star, was quite famous for his prowess in battle and being a really strict guy. My spark twisted every time I remembered the void that he left me behind...
"Spinoff?" I wanted to laugh, but I wasn't sure if I was allowed in front of this bot. "I'm a Decepticon too…I'm Takeoff" I said as I stepped out of the shadows.

Takeoff… Not exactly the con they were expecting to meet all the way out here. Spinoff only knew of him by word of mouth, and that word was less than positive. Still, they were content with meeting any Decepticon, be it the fiercest of warriors, or… this guy.
They didn’t move when he stepped out of his little hideout. They instead opted to rearrange their message again.
WHY ARE YOU HERE?
That sounded a little more ominous than they would’ve liked, but there was only so much trash in the area they could use.

Seeing the other's lack of reaction, a kind of relief invaded me. There were no hurtful words, backlash, or anything else. That helped me be less scared.
"Ahhh..." Looking at the new message, he again felt that feeling that, really, he couldn't sink any lower "Well... Se-see, I'm low on Energon levels and... well I saw a truck that it was carrying Energon and I decided to follow it. I have experience looting things with as little damage as possible... so... I followed the truck here. I lost the truck and... got lost... in this city full of Auto-to- tobots"
He sighed heavily and laced his servos together. It was a weak gesture, but being alone for so long his body had become used to acting without restraint "...And you? What are you doing here?" He tried by all means not to look at the Spinoff opticians, but at the same time to try not to make the other notice. Your things.

Spinoff stifled a laugh as they nodded along to his explanation. What a silly way to end up, they thought, completely ignoring the fact that they’d probably end doing that, too. What was he expecting to find in Autobot City? Scraplets? They rearranged the trash.
LOOKING FOR PARTS.
They pointed to their communication device. Maybe if they were lucky, Takeoff had some useful parts that they could take. Not off of his frame, mind you- Parts that he might’ve been carrying around, for whatever reason.

"Oh... Ohhhh" All the dots connected on my processor at that moment. The device looked simple enough... or complex enough. I knew absolutely nothing about technology. My forts were others that were not fit for war at all. Although...why was Spinoff looking for spare parts in a dump? There would be nothing here that was useful or not broken. I remember the long time I spent in abandoned factories, at least there, I found anything useful. Thanks to them...
"I'm not…I don't know much about these things, but…" I pulled out one of my smoke bombs from my subspace. It was the only thing I had learned to do in all those years "Perhaps... one of its components will help you?" What a picture he would have to be giving, holding a grenade towards another bot "I-I can break it down for you... if you want?"

Oh, so he was useless. Spinoff felt a tinge of regret for ever talking to the other Decepticon at all- He seemed to live up to his reputation. They were just about to turn on their pede and leave the alleyway-
Until Takeoff showed them the smoke bomb. They leaned down to inspect the object. Yes, they could definitely work with that! They looked back up to meet his gaze, a soft light in their optics signalling their joy. They nodded, frame nearly bursting with ecstasy.

"Okay... Okay... Just in case, get away from me, okay? It wouldn't be the first time that... I've messed it up" And I have messed it up in different ways. I barely knew how to put them together correctly... but taking them apart had become a self-teaching task for me.
I pulled out some tools from my own subspace and started taking it apart. First, I disabled the mechanism that would cause smoke to come out when hit. I then started to remove the casing, slowly and trying not to damage any other internal mechanisms. After the bomb did NOT explode in my face, I proceeded to separate the different mechanisms inside, laying them all separately on the ground, including the casing and trigger mechanism.
The process had been somewhat long. He had to stop several times because his servos were shaking with the nerves of blowing everything. But he had done it! He had done well! "Uhhmm... Take whatever you need"
