And there went Starscream, blowing up about everything. He was still angry about the whole talk about his spark condition, but apparently he was still angry about the whole thing about Soundwave kidnapping Nick for research. It angered him that the seeker felt he needed to spell out everything when he was the one being so vague to begin with. Soundwave could easily just read his mind, yes, but he chose not to do so with Starscream in an effort to respect boundaries and privacy. He didn't exactly tell him that, but did he really need to? Starscream was just going to assume whatever he wanted to anyway.
"You are the one that didn't want to talk any further about what was going on with your spark. You are the one insisting that there is nothing wrong, but you also claim to want to keep it secret in the event you are recaptured. You were vague when you spoke in the cell. There was no possible way I could have deduced that was what you meant back then, and I have actively chosen not to read your processor since my capture to respect your privacy. If you really wanted to keep it secret, why bother even hinting to it back then? You contradict yourself, Starscream."
He did have a point about the optics though.
The Spymaster stared down the seeker as he continued. "As for the human child, you mistake my actions. It was not an effort made to continue the war. It was not an effort to waste time with the Earth and the Autobots. It was to keep you and Nightshroud safe. I told you they could replicate Autobot signals. Why would they simply stop there when they could replicate Decepticon signals to trick us? I found it and I needed to get answers before reporting back to you. Would you rather incomplete data leading to the wrong conclusion? I wish to return to Cybertron with you, and to do that we must remain safe. If I can detect an Autobot trick so quickly before they can think to attempt it, is it not worth the effort?"
Soundwave sighed, the screaming match between the two femmes outside piercing his audial receptors. Clearly having Nightshroud chase after Skywarp was a terrible idea. "If you truly wish for me to know, then tell me. Show me. Whatever it is you must do. You may not trust me as you once did nor do I expect you to, but I have trusted you since our discussions in the cages. I will listen." Soon Starscream reached out with his servo, Soundwave sighing once more having missed the contact. Whatever Starscream wanted him to see, hear or feel.. he was ready for it. Or at least.. he thought he was.
