As Quake tore through the mountains in his tank mode he finally came across it. The place where all the Decepticons were gathering. Their makeshift base.
It was about time he found this place. Months of being on the run from G.H.O.S.T. and the Autobots and his fellow Decepticons never shared this place to him. It's almost like they didn't want him around or something!
They were gonna pay for that.
Quake drove right up to the hanger. The door was closed.
Might as well be polite.
Quake transformed into robot mode and started banging on the door intensely. "STARSCREAM! SOUNDWAVE!!! OPEN UP YOU IDIOTS!!!"

One of the very few good things that came out of this time of peace, was that Starscream’s life had gotten quieter. Quiet used to unsettle him, may it be rage of plotting, silence was never a good sign. It had been like that for a few blissful months, where he spent time with the little family he had made for himself, safe and far, far, far away from Megatron. Starscream was enjoying this lull, but he knew too well this fragile moment could shatter anytime.
[‘Ping’] [PROXIMITY WARNING: FORT. HIGH ALERT.]
So it was no surprise that one day, the proximity alarms started to blare, letting them know someone was coming. The base was barricaded, as they had no sure way of knowing if it was friend or foe that was heading straight for them. Starscream made sure the Nightshroud and the cassetticons were safe before going back to Soundwave’s side by the main entrance.
The voice that came with the banging was easily recognizable, the Berserker himself. Starscream ex-vented, rubbing a servos against his face plate. He had dreaded the arrival of other Decepticons, but it was inevitable and it was happening right now.
Shaking himself out of that nano-klik of self-pity, the Seeker grabbed an energon cube, and walked umbrageously toward the mechanism that would lift the door, slamming the lever down. His pede was tapping impatiently as the metal gate lifted, the energon cube held in front of him as a peace offering. Hopefully that would help smooth things over so they could talk instead of fight.
Not that he put a lot of hope in things going that way.

Quake tapped his foot waiting for the door to open what was taking so-
Oh it's opened.
Right in front of him in the doorway was Starscream.
"Hey, Starscream. Good to see you again." Quake said his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"So funny story. I help you guys escape in the breakout and yet I don't get-"He paused as he noticed the Energon cube Starscream was holding.
"...Okay I guess I can learn to forgive and forget. I can be rational when I want to. I just don't choose to be sometimes." He proceeded to take the cube and started drinking out of it.
"Fact is, We're all Decepticons here and we need to stick together while we're stuck on this rock."

Well this was going to be a fun day. The moment the proximity alarm went off, Soundwave shot up and prepared for action. He let Starscream corral the Cassettes and Nightshroud elsewhere within the base for their safety, opting to head straight for the sealed doors as the banging only got louder and louder. It was even worse for Soundwave with his powerful hearing, making it almost louder than it actually was. It didn't take long for Starscream to meet him at the door with energon in servo as the door slowly opened. Soundwave didn't even need to see the mech on the other side to figure out just who it was. "QUAKE." Soundwave stood there with servos crossed, listening as the two mechs engaged in conversation. It was clear that Quake wasn't too happy about not being invited to the base, though how he'd found it was a mystery for later. "NOT MY PLACE TO GIVE COORDINATES. STARSCREAM'S AUTHORIZATION: REQUIRED." It wasn't like he was the only one at this base. The Spymaster was well aware of the two seekers that had been residing here, both having their own issues. Starscream had trust issues, but so did Nightshroud on a somewhat more extreme level. She despised the idea of Soundwave and the Cassettes being here already as it was, and Starscream was right to think that the femme would believe Soundwave was going to replace her as that was exactly what happened. To bring in mechs left and right with no warning would disrupt any 'peaceful' balance there was no matter how fragile it was. He continued to stand there, listening in when his super sonic hearing heard a noise from deep within the hanger: the slamming of the hatch leading to the roof before rockets fired away from the base. Soundwave released a synthesized sigh, already knowing exactly who it was. As if Quake's arrive wasn't bad enough. Now Nightshroud was having a temper tantrum.

Starscream was disgruntled, to say the least. His plan was beginning to form and having random Decepticon joining them might not necessarily be helpful. More mouths to feed meant more risky ventures to secure energon, meaning more chances for G.H.O.S.T. and the Autobots to find and capture them. On top of that, Soundwave was acting like Starscream was the new leader of the dispersed and broken faction. Yes, it was technically ‘ his’ compound since he’s the one who spent months making the place habitable and, yes, he and Nightshroud had been the firsts ones here. The Seeker still didn’t want to be the Leader but it was forced upon him at every corner. Brooding would have to wait later, there was a potential threat to deal with and he had to make sure Quake understood the stakes at play. “First of all, I’m the reason you had any chance to escape at all to begin with. Second, this is not a ‘Decepticon Base’, it's somewhere Megatron and G.H.O.S.T. haven't found us yet. And third, my current project needs discretion, which is not your strong suit.”Starscream crossed his arms, looking Quake up and down, unimpressed. “Give me one good reason to keep you around, that you won't be a drain on our energy ressources, and actually be helpful for the new cause.”

Quake raised his eyebrow at Starscream's description of the compound.
"...So it's a secret base?" he asked.
He then wanted to know what reason to keep Quake around.
"I don't know if you noticed Starscream but I'm one of the toughest and most well-built Decepticons in the army"
"No offense to you and Soundwave but you guys are planners, schemers. You're good at doing the thinking and then giving the orders. You need bots like me to get the job done. The heavy lifting. Who will do something no questions asked. You ask me a kill a bot I'll ask 'how do you want it done'?"
"Plus I don't know if you noticed but your little group is short on ground support."
"I can be you're muscle for when a situation needs a little strength. And I'll do it with a smile on my face."
He ignored Soundwave for now. He needed to convince Starscream he could be useful first.

And this was precisely why Soundwave had hesitated telling Quake that he could come to the base. He knew full well that Starscream no longer desired to lead the Decepticons, and Soundwave respected that. The only reason he gave the reasoning that Quake needed permission from Starscream first was because this was not the Spymaster's base, nor was it Nightshroud's. This was Starscream's as he was the one who found this place, and he wanted to respect that boundary. If Starscream did not want Quake around, then that was his decision to make not Soundwave's. The Spymaster continued to listen as the two talked, somewhat amused that Quake was offering all the muscle to get the jobs done. "COMPLETE TASKS DISCREETLY?" They could not afford to lose this base because it was discovered by the wrong bot. It was their safe haven for the time being, and the absolute last thing they needed was either Megatron, the Autobots or G.H.O.S.T. finding out exactly where they were. Soundwave, however, knew that Quake desired to destroy this planet and he felt like adding a little food for thought. There was no point in hiding that fact from Starscream as he repeated Quake's words with his own voice. "Yeah returning to Cybertron sounds like a good idea. We can get some backup. Maybe tell the other cons about how Megatron betrayed us. Then we can lay waste to this planet for what they did to us."

Starscream let out an exasperated ex-vent when Quake boasted about being an formidable warrior, right after acknowledging this was a secret base.
“Yes, it’s a secret base, you absolute moron, and you just created a HUGE VISIBLE PATH THAT LEADS DIRECTLY HERE.”
Stasrcream’s tone got louder and louder as he ranted.
“This is exactly what I mean by not wanting brutes around, I cannot afford to have anything go astray. I am not spending any more time in jail. I want to go back to Cybertron and leave this filthy mudball once and for all. Nothing and no one will stand between me and this goal, is that understood?”
He was raging and glaring at Quake. It didn’t matter if the other mech was stronger, he was the one with the means to bring them back home. Starscream was afraid of a lot of things but deactivation has never been one of them. It might make him a little too unhinged when the Seeker decides to stake his Spark on a cause.

Quake glared back at Starscream.
"...Crystal." he responded back.
"Look. You heard what Soundwave said. At the moment we all want the same thing. To get back to Cybertron. The reasons may be different but the end goal is the same. So just let me in!" he pushed his way past Starscream and entered the compound.
Quake took a moment to look around the sorry excuse for a base. Something fell off the roof and landed on his head. Quake regarded it with mild annoyance.
"...This is your home? Look at this place. It's a fragging dump! You call this the big HQ of the new Decepticon movement!?"
"Hrm... With the right materials I can probably fix this place back up. I was a construction worker back on Cybertron before I joined the military you know.".

Starscream had an incredibly valid point, and it was one that Soundwave agreed on fully especially after his own blunder earlier this year. Quake in his desperation to find a place to stay had left some pretty clear tracks leading directly to the base itself and posed as a risk for exposing them all should anyone come across it. While the chances were slim, any chance at all was still too high and they had worked tirelessly to make sure that their new home was safe and secure at all times. They were not going back to G.H.O.S.T. jail because Quake got too reckless. Still it did seem that he understood what was being said, but the moment he shoved his way past Starscream the Spymaster growled in annoyance. What right did Quake have to just enter the base like that, though he did expect such foolishness considering how he had entered to begin with. Quake seemed to think that he could spruce the place up as a construction worker, and the idea did have merit. It would be a good idea to have someone like Quake around to help fortify the base more, but that meant keeping him in check as well as to not blow anyone's cover. Besides, it wasn't even just Soundwave and Starscream staying here, but Nightshroud as well wherever she had flown off to. The blue mech thought to mention it to Starscream, but with tensions as high as they were with Quake around he thought better of it for the moment. Instead, Soundwave simply pointed to the entrance of the base where tire tracks were visible, speaking in Starscream's voice. "Clean that up."

Starscream’s left optic twitched as Quake pushed past him and judged their home. There was a reason he left things semi-crumbling, it was because he wanted the base to look abandoned so as to not draw suspicion. Watching the piece of ceiling fall on Quake was, however, very satisfying. It was nice to have someone who has his back too, seeing Soundwave telling the newest comer to go and clean up his mess was satisfying.
“You heard the second-in-command. Come back once you’re done and I’ll show you where you can find material to fix the buildings.”

Quake growled. They wanted him to clean up. He was not the janitor! He was a warrior! A fighter!
It seems like people like Starscream and Soundwave didn't appreciate his talents.
Still, He'd go along...for now. He needed protection, backup and a lift to Cybertron. He'd get his revenge at some point.
"Fine." Quake muttered. His eyebrow twitched.
He got the cleaning supplies and went to clean his tracks.
But make no mistake. He'd show those two. He'd prove he was useful.
Might even end up running the place if things went right.
As he cleaned he felt antsy. Angry. All he wanted to do was beat something up. Like usual. He tried to pretend he was squashing Bumblebee's stupid face as he cleaned.
"So I heard a rumor Skywarp was here?"

Post by Bombardier on Oct 10, 2023 22:07:01 GMT
As the group had been busy working out the issue with quake, another figure seemed to be listening in, having been brought out from their work by the blaring alarms and charging Quake. Bombardier stepped out from his workshop, steam emanating from him for a moment as he ducked down and out, stretching his wings out before catching sight of the trio in their argument, the towering Bomber letting out a sigh beneath their helm. Seems the racket was caused by a newcomer: Quake, he believed the con was called. One of Bombardiers drones, the one clad with a red star, had also come out to join. Having been woken up by the blaring horn, it now wandered nearby the towering engineer, chirping and whirring on occasion as he stepped forward.
"So this what the racket was all about...and what has disturbed my work." Bombardier remarked, ember optics boring holes into Quake as he spoke these last words. Quake may or may not recognize them for what they were: a prolific warsmith and commander amidst the decepticons, layered with heavy armor plating that made him cut a monstrous figure. Gazing down at Quake before speaking up with Soundwave and Starscream, he continued. He very much was not a fan of having been disturbed by Quakes shenanigans...but nonetheless was curious at their arrival. "Hmmm, most interesting..."

Oh how it amused Soundwave that Quake was actually going to clean his tire track mess up. He opted to watch the new arrival do his duty but he couldn't help but turn to look over at Starscream. He had hesitated on whether or not to tell him that he had heard Nightshroud fleeing roughly when they had opened the door for Quake, but maybe he should say something just so he wasn't left wondering. Soundwave wasn't aware that the young femme had already sent a comm Starscream's way, somewhat panicked and hastily sent saying that she needed space and needed to get out of the base. It was only fitting that Soundwave send a comm to Starscream as well just so Quake wouldn't overhear. <<"Starscream.. I heard Nightshroud fleeing the compound moments ago. I didn't know if I should tell you now or later, but while we have this brief moment of respite before Quake finishes up, I thought I should tell you.">>
Just as Quake finished up that's when Soundwave heard the footsteps of Bombardier. It seemed that Quake's arrival had caught the attention of him as well. Not too surprising with how loud the mech was pounding on the door, but the internal early warning system did give them a heads up that Quake had been coming even if not by name. "QUAKE WISHES TO REDECORATE." It wasn't a lie, though Quake also seemed interested to know about Skywarp. This left Soundwave curious, but he figured he would leave that answer to Starscream. He would better know how to describe his sister's antics after all. Sometimes it was even hard to tell with how Skywarp loved to warp in and out of the base like she owned the place.
